Can Madrid sack Xabi Alonso?

Xabi’s team has come from a poor run, managing very little when it came to bringing results. The recent results against Man City and in La Liga have done more damage. 

Recent results against Bilbao in San Mames are the only positive that can be taken from the game, but still a long way to go. We may see a new managerial face at the beginning of 2026. There are only two things Real Madrid can do with Xabi Alonso. 

1. Either they part ways with the Spaniard or

2. They keep him as the head coach.

Simple, isn’t it?

But there is a huge risk as a club going in with both mindsets. When keeping Xabi as a manager, Real Madrid is risking playing the bet that Xabi will be able to turn things around, and the performance will improve. 

And if Madrid sent Xabi out, we will be seeing someone very new in the dug-out for the remaining Madrid games. There are not many managers with a CV that fits to manage a club like Real Madrid, apart from a few like Zidane and Jurgen Klopp. 

For example, if Madrid brings in the new coach, there is a huge chance that it may not work out that too in the middle of the season, when the team is already not performing. 

A very strong opinion would be. 

“Real Madrid should be managed by someone who the players actually looked up to when they were players.” 

This particularly worked when Zidane was the manager of the club, as Benitez left the club and the club desperately wanted someone, they went for one of the legendary status players, which worked because, more than tactics, Zidane was about aura, A player who was looked up to by the players in the dressing room. 

So yes, from a fan perspective, the Xabi situation could go anywhere.
