Manchester United vs Everton match preview.

Updated: Jul 24, 2023

As Manchester United will be playing their 8th EPL game tonight against Everton in an away fixture, pressure will be on Eric Ten Hag and his team to prove something, some development in this fixture as last weekend their Manchester counterpart handed them a

6-3 defeat.

Eric Ten Hag would surely be wanting his CB duo Lisandro and Varane to field on the pitch but it would only happen if Varane would be fully fit. Manchester United CB pairing of Linde; of and Lisandro isn't working that well as we saw in the last Europa League fixture vs Omonia when United Easily conceded a goal after Rashford gave them a 3-1 lead. Moreover as United conceded the first goal against Omonia from a mistake by Malacia when the defence line was way up the pitch, a big question mark remains as to who would begin the game vs Everton, Malacia or Luke Shaw? My probable defence line would be Dalot, Lindelof, Martinez, and Malacia as one mistake can't place Luke Shaw over Malacia.

Everton has been creating chances using through balls and Fred has got the best interception rate and successful tackles per 90 so probably Fred will start today. On the midfield, Fred might play alongside Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes or might pair with Mc Tominay and Fernandes. United really have to be good at winning the duels, particularly in midfield and Everton's heatmap shows so far most of their play has been in the midfield. On the frontline, Rashford and Martial might start alongside Antony over Rashford and Sancho based on the midweek Europa League performance.

Overall it will be an interesting fixture to watch, an entertaining game as pressure would be on United to satisfy the fans and on Erik Ten Hag for a point to prove the work is in progress for the return of United on the European map as a strong contender.
