Who Are Real Madrid's Biggest Rival?

Ever come across a fan who has been roughly talking about how Real Madrid pays the ref or “how many trophies Real Madrid has bought”. Well, if you are into football recently and come across certain people, then you can just close your eyes and bet that they are “Barca Fans”.

There is one team in the world that is above the natural rivalry when it comes to Real Madrid. 

They are Barcelona Fans 

Why does Barcelona have this deep rivalry with Real Madrid?

They have a deep history to it, and they have a very deep political connection to this too; they have been rivals since the war period.

Real Madrid has been one of the most successful clubs in recent times. When Florentino Perez received the award for best club of the century in 2000, Barcelona was going through an existential crisis. 

The best players from all around the world have been playing for Real Madrid and Barcelona, and these two teams have become a symbol of club football due to globalisation.

We had the Figo case which was the most highly tense moment between Barcelona and Real Madrid. We had Cristiano Ronaldo playing for Real Madrid and Lionel Messi playing for Barcelona at the peak of their careers. They have all together won 13 Balon d’Or, which is a feat in itself.

Once the La Liga fixture between these two clubs, the world would come to a stop to watch these players play. The highest in football. 

In the current state, Real Madrid is getting thrashed by Barcelona in La Liga and the Copa Del Rey. The addition of Mbappe did not seem to have made any good produce for Real Madrid as they have Lamine Yamal in a leading position, just like Ronaldinho was there when Galactico was signed.

As more and more players are involved, we are not going to see any decline in this fixture. There are still tensions regarding the political environment in Spain within these two clubs. 

Real Madrid also has Atletico Madrid as a Rival

Real Madrid has been a long-time rival of Atletico Madrid; they have a history together as they both belong to the same city. 

Real Madrid is usually associated with the people of the high class in Madrid/Spain. A club that has a royal heritage in Spain, whereas Atletico Madrid is also a club that is often supported by the middle-class people in Spain.

They also have an intense rivalry among themselves as they have recently been to a Champions League final, and both times, Real Madrid has been victorious.  

But we can just trace back the rivarly since the mid-50s because the rivarly between Atletico and Real is class-based, not a direct political one.
