Lionel Messi's red hot form for PSG shows the determination he has for this year

Updated: Jul 24, 2023

Messi is a synonym for success in football. Hailed as the greatest of all time by millions, the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner has won it all in his career, except for the World Cup, that is, but who knows, Messi might finally lift the World cup in 2022 in Qatar if the team performances allow it.

Well, with PSG too, Messi has been firing on all cylinders this season. His previous season was quite harsh given his stature Messi’s standards were always higher; he scored six goals, and Messi looked like a shell of his former self.

This season, the story differs from the Messi and Neymar connection in that PSG’s play Messi appears to be more dangerous than ever, thanks to his partnership with his friend Neymar.

Against NICE, Messi bagged a spectacular free-kick in the top corner. Nothing Schemicheal could do to stop it. Messi took his free-kick tally to 60. He gave a stellar performance, helping his team to take the lead, Scoring 7th of this season.

Messi’s connection with Neymar is not unknown to anyone. From his days in Barcelona, the two have been unstoppable, creating a historic trio of MSN. PSG, on the other hand, has a similar bond despite the absence of Suarez. Mbappe has taken the role from Suarez, as he looks to link up with the two forwards. With the recent drama surrounding Mbappe, it looked like the trio might face problems working together.

Even without Mbappe, Messi has continued to perform to his absolute best. He seems more refreshed and determined than ever. This also might be because of the World Cup in 2022 in Qatar, where he wants to be at his goal. A World Cup with Argentina is the only thing that is missing from his trophy cabinet.
