Messi's transfer to PSG came as a shock in the summer of 2021. When the world grappled with the Covid-19 stadium closed and interactions limited the mega news of Lionel Messi leaving Barcelona after spending more than 10 years at Barcelona, Barcelona suffered huge losses at the time of Joseph Maria Bartemeu with clubs' financial resources drained and the closure of stadiums meant no revenue as the club battled economic turmoil. Messi’s departure was also because of one of those reasons.

Lionel Messi came to Paris with the hope of securing his 4th Champions League Title as his ambition and the club’s ambition were remarkably the same as “the domination of Europe” but as the turn of events quickly turned out the sweet relationship quickly turned sour as ego’s n the dressing room clashed. Managing high profile name was not Pochentinho’s cup of tea as news erupted of clashes between Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe.

Argentina winning the World Cup against France didn't play into the narrative as Messi had to go to France after lifting the trophy in Qatar.

Lionel Messi came to PSG without any fees, hence the club majorly benefited from his rights as the shirt sales rose. Lionel Messi's adventure at PSG cannot be deemed a total failure as he won the Ligue One in both seasons.

Messi's next destination might not be Europe at all as numerous rumours about his future speculated although there is a huge chance of him signing for his beloved club FC Barcelona there are huge offers for him from Saudi Arabian clubs. We tune in if there is any report of him.
